TEMPORARY ACTIVATION OF URBAN VOIDS
CREATING THE CITY TOGETHER
The town of Aveiro has a large number of vacant plots awaiting for construction that the local community is willing to use in the meantime. Bottom-up initiatives from the neighbours help filling this gap in the structural planning process and developing a sense of ownership of the city.
In the framework of the EU programme Actors of Urban Change, we supported the participatory process, advising on temporary urban transformation and translating the wishes of the participants into concrete design proposals.
